About

portrait of Boudoir Photographer Rich Cirminello and his wife, photographer Nelly Cirminello
HELLO!

Meet Rich Cirminello

I’ve been shooting glamor fashion and intimate portraits since 2003 but few things compare to the satisfaction I get from Boudoir. I know I’ve done a good job when a woman sees herself and starts getting misty realizing how beautiful she really is.

Many women consider a boudoir photo session an opportunity to celebrate and express herself in a way that she cannot often do in everyday life.  For some it is a safe way to try something fun that takes her a little bit out of her comfort zone allowing her to act in a way that is a bit more adventurous than she normally does;  for others it gives her the freedom to act like she REALLY IS without the restrictions and judgment of others.

I believe boudoir has the ability to help restore, revitalize and refresh; you will see yourself in a way that you may have never seen yourself before. No matter what, I am willing to bet that you love what you see. Boudoir is 100% authentic. It starts with you and it ends with you, and I am very proud to be a boudoir photographer. I couldn’t imagine a better way to use my skills and talent.

And I am grateful that I get to be a part of the experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I don't know how to pose?

Not to worry! Before the shoot we will discuss the types of look and poses we’ll be going for. I will be there to guide, direct and coach you through positions and movements to ensure we get plenty of great images during your boudoir photoshoot!

What if I don't have a model body?

Boudoir photography is for you to celebrate your beauty free of judgement or comparison to ‘models’ or anyone else. A professional model’s job is maintaining a look that requires their full-time attention to diet and training not unlike a pro athlete.  There is a reason why most people don’t look like them! A Boudoir session is about learning to love the body you’ve got, not the one that you might have if you had a personal trainer and 10 hours a day to work on it. The only ‘standard’ is that you come ready to love and respect yourself and have a great time – model body not required.

What do I wear?

The short answer is: whatever you want!
The goal of your Boudoir photography session is to make you look and feel amazing!
During a typical shoot we go through 3 or 4 ‘looks.’ One ‘look’ is a change clothes and/or setting. I recommend that you bring at least 8 wardrobe options to give us some variety. In addition, I have garments, accessories and props in my style closet that you can pull from.
Most women progress from more conservative to more risqué, but it’s completely up to you.
Leading up to your personalized boudoir session you’ll get plenty of help from me including suggestions about what to wear and even where to shop. I’m also available for a wardrobe consultation.

Do you always wear a black button down shirt?

Yeah, pretty much. I have a closet full and it has become part of by boudoir photographer ‘uniform.’
Maybe it’s from growing up on the East Coast. I just feel more professional working in a button down shirt.

My favorite ones tend to be from Calvin Klein, but I have Others.

Occasionally I’ll wear white – I have three favorites – and sometimes you might catch me in blue at a business meeting or grey shooting on location.

Do you use Photoshop?

Yes!
Each and every boudoir photo is lovingly hand-retouched by me using the latest version of Adobe Photoshop. Today’s professional cameras capture a dizzying amount of detail but produce images that need to be ‘developed’ using tools like Photoshop.
There are a few things to note about my Photoshop philosophy:

  1. Do it by hand. Many photographers take shortcuts and use automatic ‘skin smoothing’ plug-ins either because they are unable or unwilling to do it by hand. This process often looks plastic and unnatural to me so I don’t take shortcuts. You are worth the effort of hand-retouching!
  2. You must look like YOU. The entire point of boudoir photography is to celebrate the beauty that you already possess, not transform you into something that you’re not. I take a light hand and seek to ‘enhance’ rather than ‘transform.’
  3. Remove blemishes, scratches, bruises and any other non-permanent marks from your skin.
  4. Don’t remove severe TAN LINES.  Blending slight variations in skin tone is normal, however, fresh, clearly defined tan lines or sunburn are a much bigger issue to deal with. Please keep that in mind leading up to your shoot.

Do you have a Studio or will you Come to my Home?

Yes and Yes!

I have a second bedroom in my home that is a dedicated ‘boudoir photography studio.’ Clients have exclusive use of the guest bathroom as well. I even leave bottled water and little treats in there for you!

If you prefer to shoot in your home, that can usually be arranged. Please bring it up when we have our initial consultation, as it may impact scheduling and pricing.

Do you shoot on location?

Yes! I love to shoot outdoors and on location.

Some places I have done boudoir and glamor shoots include:

  • client’s homes
  • AirBnbs
  • fancy hotels
  • cheap hotels
  • beaches
  • the woods
  • open fields
  • reservoirs
  • with horses
  • with motorcycles
  • with cars, etc.

Other states and countries I have shot in include: California, New York, New Jersey, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Greece, Taiwan.

If you want to do a location shoot, please bring it up at the initial consultation, as additional charges, expenses, travel arrangements, assistants, permits, and/or insurance coverage may be required.

Will you share my photos online?

Not without your permission.
I want you to feel 100% confident with your decision to shoot boudoir with me, therefore, I will not share your photos unless I have your permission.

I encourage women to allow me to share their images and their story to help inspire and encourage other women to do it! By allowing me to share your images you help give other women the confidence to do something amazing for themselves!

Can I bring someone to my session?

My top priority is that you feel totally comfortable and have a fantastic experience during your photo session. Bringing someone along to encourage you and provide moral support is normally permitted providing the following:

  1. you notify my BEFORE the day of your shoot that you intend to bring someone and they are
  2. female
  3. over 18 years old
  4. encouraging and helpful, not critical or cynical
  5. not distracting your attention

Boyfriends, fiancés, and husbands may drop you off and pick you up but will NOT be permitted to stay unless you have booked a couples session together.

What is your policy on nudity?

You are free to go as bare as you dare, however nudity is not required. Some women prefer ‘implied’ nude where they appear nude, but their naughty bits are concealed by pose, props, or sheets.
In fact a ‘white sheet’ session (in bed nude but with sheets) is a popular choice for one of the looks.

Some go topless, some go full nude. It’s really up to you.  You are encouraged to move beyond your comfort zone, but we do not push clients into doing anything they are likely to regret.

What is your policy on alcohol?

I do not serve alcohol, but if you must drink I recommend you limit yourself: no more than 2 drinks before your session.
I recognize the desire to relax a little and celebrate, however, consuming just a few drinks leads to dopey or sleepy eyes (not a good look!), blotchy redness on skin (which will not be corrected in Photoshop), and may contribute to poor decision making.
Therefore, if you must consume, do it responsibly.

For the safety of everyone involved, please do not ‘pregame.’

If I feel your behavior is being influenced by alcohol/drugs, your session will be stopped and your session fee will not be refunded.

Do you shoot Erotic/Fetish?

Yes! I have experience with erotic photography and some fetish styles. If this is something you are interested in please bring it up at our initial consultation. I will not normally talk about it unless you ask.
If you do inquire, please be prepared to to have a candid discussion about what you want to capture as well as what you do not want.

Do you shoot couples?

Yes!  Bring it up during our initial consultation and be prepared to discuss the level of intimacy you desire to capture.
